How to Give a (Last Minute) Personal Development Christmas Card

Whew! After coming back home on the 18th, it’s been 4 busy days of catching up with work, friends and family. If there’s one thing I realized 18 days away from home, there’s nothing more important than the people you love.

The other thing I realized, only when I got back, is how late I’m going to be for people’s Christmas presents and cards :( But never mind that, I want to share with you a way to send a Christmas card that not only lifts someone’s spirits, but also helps them grow as a person.

It’s actually very simple, and first appeared 2 years ago in my post Give Someone a Magical Christmas. All you have to do is include and complete this magical phrase in your Christmas card:

Who you are makes a difference to me because…

Junming, who you are makes a difference to me because of your continued support and strength, you inspire me to do better in my own life.

Dom, who you are makes a difference to me because of your dedication to your dreams and your wacky humor, you inspire me and make me laugh at the same time.

Brenda, who you are makes a difference to me because of your support and integrity, I know you are someone I can count on.

Yezhong, who you are makes a difference to me because of your wisdom and your integrity, I know I can always go to you for some well-thought out advice.

And so on.

Other phrases you can also use are:

I appreciate you for…

I want to thank you for…

I’ve always admired you for…

Only 3 more days till Christmas – who’s someone you know whom could really use a special (last minute) personal development Christmas card?

Thanks Al, it’s good to know that I make a difference. You are kind enough not to mention the evil side of me. Still, that does not mean that you are exempted from giving me a Christmas present ;p

Thanks for this wonderful idea. I just included it on a Christmas card to 2 of my closest friends.

I’m glad this post was useful for you Patricia. Hope your friends like it :)

Great idea, especially since we are all sending them anyway.

It’s amazing what a little personal not will do for someone. TO give an example, I had someone call me about a job that I wasn’t really interested in. But they took the time to send me a handwritten note thanking me anyway. THat is so rare these days that it made an impression. Guess who will be the first person I call when I am looking for something?

  5. Yezhong Says:

Hey thanks man. I learn a great deal from you too. You are becoming more and more of an inspiration.

  6. Alvin Soon Says:

An inspiration? Haha I never realized. Tell me why on Friday.

That’s a good point Tom! I think we’re missing the human touch so much nowadays a little bit can go a long way. Something I need to pick up myself ;)
