Empowering Links: Week of 15th July
You’re getting a bumper crop of empowering links this week to immerse yourself in! That’s because I’ll be in Korea for work. Enjoy!
Although you and your woman are equal beings, you are very different creatures. In February I reviewed the book The Way of The Superior Man by David Deida and I raved about unpolitically correct, but how true I found his work to be. The Work of David Deida has 5 excerpts from his book for you to preview and judge for yourself (Take into Account the Primary Asymmetry is pure gold).
The key to getting – and staying – organized is to look beyond the stuff and imagine the life you could be living. Merlin Mann has declared War on Clutter after reading Peter Walsh’s It’s All Too Much and realized ‘if the stuff that you accumulate doesn’t help get you closer to the life you want to have, it’s simply not worth keeping’. He also realized that you should never organize what you can discard, finds the tools to purge big and some de-cluttering inspiration along the way.
Not only do you teach people how to treat you, but you teach the universe how to treat you as well. Christine always has something good to share. What does it mean to value yourself, your time and your work? Are you saving money or wasting yourself?
After all that reading you can find some easy inspiration for the eye at Christine Kane’s vision board gallery (another inspirational gallery here). After looking at them I’ve decided to make one myself!
Environmental issues really get to me, and Lifehacker has listed a Top 10 list of Computing Energy Savers for people like me who use gadgets day in and day out.
I was skeptical when I first read about the Enneagram. But I decided to give it a fair shot, took the test and was shell-shocked to discover how accurate it was about me. Read the excellent Enneagram introduction at Liz’s Successful Blog.

If you are in a real conflict, you have to be 100% sure that you will succeed or you are handicapping yourself in a potential life or death situation. An immediate lesson from the martial arts. There is no room for doubt, you must win. It’s that simple.
Just start believing that you’re smarter, and you will immediately start becoming smarter. Don’t believe me? Believe Mr Wang. He explains in Thoughts And The Reality of Pets & Children. If you still don’t believe it, read Mind Influences Matter. But so what? What practical use does this knowledge have? See what can happen when you write down your goals.

I agree that a key to self management is self esteem. I would offer that true life inspiration happens when you find something you love to do and make it a part of your everyday experience. Here’s an exercise:
1. Write down 10 things you love to do or that bring you the most joy. I call this the “You List”
2. Then record how many times a day you do one of the things on your list
3. Give each day of the week a rating from 1-10
4. Your best day usually comes out to be the day you do the most things on your “You List”
I can easily relate to the first part of the story, in the past I was one of those people pretending you have done something and then be very uncomfortable when someone asks more detailed questions.
It is not a good feeling and being upfront from the beginning really saves you the embarassment later.
