30 Days Trial: Tony Robbins’ Pure Energy Greens with MSM

Pure Energy Greens

After years of deliberating and procrastinating, I got my order of Tony Robbins’ Pure Energy Greens in the mail a few days ago.

The box has 90 packets of a green powder mix of organic green vegetables. Tony Robbins subscribes to the acid/alkaline diet, in which a host of the body’s problems can be ascribed to an acidic lifestyle and diet, and the solution is to have a largely alkaline diet and lifestyle.

The theory is still pretty much out there, with critics and supporters alike. But the basic premise, as much as I can sort out, is this: eat more veggies than you do everything else, feel better more of the time than feel stressed, and exercise!

Can’t argue with that.

My goal in getting the Pure Energy Greens is twofold;

1) to increase my levels of energy,

2) to improve my health, because I don’t eat enough vegetables.

In this 30 day trial, I’ll be taking 2 servings of Pure Energy Greens a day. That’s 1 less than the recommended because these things cost (the main reason for my procrastination) and do a purely subjective test based on whether or not it raises the level of energy I feel…especially during the afternoon lunch sleepies.

P.S. Read more about the alkaline acid diet.

I don’t think this type of 30 day trial will give a really good feel for if this stuff really works or not. Just because you are doing something to your body, you will experience a level of excitement which will make you feel better - sort of like the Hawthorne effect http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawthorne_effect .

If I may make a recommendation for the “afternoon lunch sleepies”… each just half of what you normally would for lunch, this will satisfy your hunger, but keep you from getting full and tired. Eat the second half 2-3 hours afterwards. You’ll get the nutrition without the drowsiness - with an added bonus of better digestion.

I’m a big believer in the alkaline diet theory, but I’m skeptical about whether the results from natural foods can be replaced with highly processed substitutes and supplements. I’ll have to stay tuned to see your results. Good luck!

Al, can I tell you something ? DIAO !!! lol

I’ve tried the green supplement before. Actually, I still take it from time to time (it’s very useful for chronic gassy or bloated stomachs).

Personally, I noticed the difference in stomach behaviour almost immediately. Within 2-3 days, the acidity reduced tremendously. And although the powder I bought tasted like crap (seriously), I got used to it in 3-5 days (although my friends still balk when I drink it).

But in time, I think my stomach has kinda become immune to it … it stopped having the radical effect it had right in the beginning. Instead, I just switched my diet to include more alkaline fruits & juices to make up for it.

Interestingly many people believe a myth abt alkaline and acidic foods, especially acidic foods.
Myth: Acidic foods are foods that tasted acidic.

A false statement told like a fact statement.

Have you ever thought that fish is an acidic food?
    Prawns? Rice? Peanuts?
They taste nothing close to Acidic on the acid taste scale!
Yet I may announce they are all VERY acidic!

4 years ago… I had digestive trouble and switching to alkaline food really helped me much!
Then damn critics are always there… like sticky demons…
So I went on a frenzy search for evid!
I found many wiser, more intelligent, artistic people who takes care of their lives knew this and practised it.
(Tony Robbins, LKY, yogis, nutritionists, and especially those who lost health and regain it through greens) &
accumulated corroborative evidence to substantiate what I saw, heard & read, and then afterwards, experienced personally.

Recently 4months ago, I tested out a non-vegan diet to see what it will happen if i relent to my parents & critics & revert to eating “energy foods advocated by them and the advertisements”.
I noticed the huge drop in energy from this test that I must stop now.

I believe that just goes to show one should listen to his or her own body and decide what’s suitable, shouldn’t we wiser beings?

Well, I believe if our busy lifestyles do not support us taking nutrients directly from the food, then supplements will be the way to go.

Will stay tuned on what you will experience Alvin. As for now, I’m happy with my vege intake plus my own nutritional shake I take every morning for breakfast! :D

Everything in moderation in terms of food makes a person healthy.

I am a firm believer that it is our belief about food (the ones we take in) which affects us the most.

One day, almost 3 years ago, I sorta got fed-up by the “advice” people threw at me about my diet (all were so contradictory) and I started shifting my own beliefs about what I was eating.

I lost almost 30kg in a matter of 1.5 years and I am now about 12 kg from my target weight. That’s without changing my eating habit or exercise regime.

Andy Shalman brought up an interesting subject: Hawthorne Effect. Like Pygmalion Effect and Placebo, it is our expectation that affects the results we get.

I look forward to the result of your trial.

    Interesting about what Pete said:

“…that it is our belief about food (the ones we take in) which affects us the most. ”

If one can change the way how food affects us just by shifting our beliefs about them, imagine how powerful WE would be!

I have switched to a more Alkaline diet myself and I still stuggle to find a reason for me to go 100% Vegan.

I’m still eating a little meat and have focused more on eating more alkaline type foods (ie more dark green vegetables and fruits of high alkaline value)

I have also drink more water to keep myself hydrated thruout the day because of my hectic lifestyle. (BODYCOMBAT training etc)

Update me about your experience, ok?

I am a cancer survivor. I had Burkitt’s Lymphoma while 7 months pregnant. Once they took the baby, I started my chemo. Certain chemo’s could not be given until my PH reached 7. I would take sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to rid my body of acid. After being cleared for one year, during a CT Scan it was thought that there maybe a tuomor on my spleen. From that moment on I went GREEN - NO ACID - NO SUGAR. Not even from natural fruit. I also only drank de-ionixed water and which help keep the PH up in my system. I love my U of M doctors, they rock, but they disagreed that I could keep my PH up, and I have proved them wrong. Cancer and disease cannot survive in a non-acidic environment. Cancer loves sugar. I’ve learned a lot, some a little hokey, but this is not- STAY GREEN & God Bless!
