Link: The Secret to Making Lots of Money
With a title like The Secret to Making Lots of Money, who wouldn’t want to not just read it, but devour it?
But one of my favorite bloggers, Fred Grazton, makes a few points that resonate with stuff I’ve been thinking about lately.
Everyone wants money. That’s a given. Money, however, is a fruit of an action. There are lots of possible fruits of an action and money happens to be just one of them. Other fruits may be materiel, people, circumstances, opportunities, recognition, etc. We have no control over what fruits or how much fruit comes from an action. That is Nature’s domain. We only have control over our action.
A few friends have been asking me lately how Life Coaches Blog is doing, and I gladly report that it’s doing better and better. Readership is up and so is revenue, even though it’s not astronomical, a slow and steady growth is much better than none.
And I’m happy enough for all the unexpected benefits I’ve reaped since I started this blog, like the friends I’ve made and the improvements I’ve made in my writing.
At the same time, I won’t fool you: I want to make loads of money from this site
The happiest outcome of that would be able to write full-time and make a happy living from it, which would also benefit Life Coaches Blog’s readers because I’d be able to devote more time and energy to writing content.
That said, Fred’s article helped me articulate something I’d been feeling the last few weeks.
That while I do want to make trucks and truckloads of money, the meaning behind Life Coaches Blog should always come first (thank you, Guy). I did not start this blog just to make money, I also started it to share, to grow, and in Apple’s old words; make a dent in the universe.
And I believe, when I increase the value of my words, I’ll receive the equivalent of value back (with the help of some saavy marketing, hee). To that end, the next design of Life Coaches Blog is more content-centric and should make it easier for you to find meaning (yes, it’s coming, watch for it!).

I agree that a key to self management is self esteem. I would offer that true life inspiration happens when you find something you love to do and make it a part of your everyday experience. Here’s an exercise:
1. Write down 10 things you love to do or that bring you the most joy. I call this the “You List”
2. Then record how many times a day you do one of the things on your list
3. Give each day of the week a rating from 1-10
4. Your best day usually comes out to be the day you do the most things on your “You List”
I can easily relate to the first part of the story, in the past I was one of those people pretending you have done something and then be very uncomfortable when someone asks more detailed questions.
It is not a good feeling and being upfront from the beginning really saves you the embarassment later.
