5 Steps To Turn Frustration into Fascination

Personal Development

Part of my job is traveling to many places in Asia Pacific to meet clients and my business partners.

I remembered the time I was in the taxi on the way to the airport and my plane was leaving in 45 minutes.

The traffic is not moving an inch, it was very hot day in the summer and taxi has no air-conditioning.

And I feel… Frustration ==> FASCINATION

Your hot button is being pressed…Do want to turn that into fascinating?

There are the 5 steps I follow to be fascination all the time.

1) Watch the play: Go Meta, disassociate. See yourself in the experience from 3rd person perspective.
“So, I see myself in the taxi, sweating, traffic jam and 45 minute to plane taking off”

2) Confirm feeling: This step is very easy to do, but what I need you to notice is whether are there any mix feeling beside frustration that you can leverage on. (E.g. frustration with ambition)
“I can feel the frustration is begin to build up inside me, with curiosity about flight timing in that location”

3) Get more info: About situation, people, place, who else is involved, when, how and positive intention behind, etc.
“So, I enquire from taxi driver about traffic report, airline system, telephone number, alternative flight, and alternative transportation mode. I also think of what type of work I can do at the airport to make myself more productive during waiting time, if I were really miss the flight, or who should I call to delay my appointment”

4) What’s my outcome: not the result you want, but determine the feeling you want to feel.
“Of course I really want to feel fascination or at least feel good about what’s going to happen”

5) Find common ground or solution.
“So, I come out with solution for all scenarios it might turn out.”

BUT I can tell you it doesn’t work every time.

This would tackle around 85-90% of your day-to-day frustration.

How about the rest of 10-15%? That’s the great challenge. The other 10-15% can due using separate 3 steps. In fact, these 3 steps can resolve 100% of day-to-day frustration. It involves Sati, and that requires practice. That’s would be my next following post.

Thanks for the information. My favorite speaker John Paul addresses these isues in his conferences.

John Paul Warren of Voice of the Nations messages do more then merely motivate and inspirer…they transform the very character of the listener!

I have attended more than 25 conferences where he was the keynote speaker. John Paul has the natural ability to grab the attention of the audience and make a lasting impact like no other speaker I have heard!

I have heard countless speakers but few have every said anything to change my life. John Paul Warren’s messages on Leadership, The Power of Thought, Character and Business not only keep me on the edge of my seat but have forever changed my thinking and my heart.

John Paul’s teaching has brought me to a new level of success as a father, husband and prosperous business leader.

I have only met a few speakers who can keep the attention of their audience for more then 30 minutes. I have seen John Paul hold audiences of 30,000 or more glues to their seats for 45 minutes or longer while begging for more!

His humor, grasp of the subject matter and stage presents makes him my favorite speaker.

John Paul Warren is an awesome speaker! I just attended a conference of his with over 30,000 in attendence…the place was on “fire!” John Paul has revolutionized my thinking! I want to attend his upcoming Economic Summitt in Africa or India.

  6. Rusty Winters Says:

John Paul Warren is also my favorite speaker! I attended his conference in London England. More then 20,000 people were in attendance. The conference lasted 5 days…those five days were the best 5 days of my life. My wife and I did NOT want the conferece to end. JOhn Paul speaks mostly overseas in Africa, Indian, Asia…etc. It is rare to be able to attend one of his conferences. I wished he would do more in the UK and the USA. The first time I heard him was in Chicago…more then 18,000 attended that 6 day conferece. Let me know if he is speaking in the USA.

John Paul Warren is an outstanding motivator! I just returned from one of his conferences…it was a 10! The best I had ever attended. He made me think in new directions! His messages were practical as well s motivating! He made me want to do. Something inside of me is NOW drive. I have a pupose and drive I never had. I learned that it is NOT what you achieve in life that atters but what you contribute! I want my life to make a difference. I took 10 co-workers with me. They had the same life changing results! we ut into practice what John Paul taught us. They principles are unlike any principles I have ever learned. I sne John Paul a personl e-mail of thanks and he ansered it “personally”. It was NOT from a secretary it was from him. His office said he get ver 300 e-mails a day and reads everyone addressed to him. His staff said he is approachable. He is the same off stage as on. Finally a real authentic leader!

John Paul Warren has a heart for Social Transformation. As a Nation Builder is efforts have done a lot of good! His team of Nation Builders are helping many under developed nations. I think he is a great speaker! However, the greatest thing he does is igniting vision and purpose in others to make a difference…in this world! He believes we can change the world! Novel idea! He sure has inspired me!

Great article, guys… but about this fan clubs…

A true teacher should never exchange his knowledge to get others stick to him…. he should exchange his knowledge for their stupidity… for them to see the way too.

A true teacher must distinguish between harm and positive.

Its just like Bruce Lee pointing finger to the moon…. remember the scene? :) :)

You dont need Lee, just his words (and yourself), to understand the universal point of view.

  13. Shinobi Says:

As for Mr. Warren, I dont think he discovered something that doesn’t exist. :)

Thats not a critic. I am sure he would agree. :)
