7 Days of Gratitude: Day 1

On the 7 Days of Gratitude Challenge, I wonder if I could cheat a little and start yesterday, because I had such a wonderful day.

My friends and I were meeting at the beach for a nice group dinner, but a couple decided to meet earlier for a seaside jog. I’m not that keen into running, but I love cycling, and volunteered to carry their bags on my bike.

The weather was beautiful. All perfect for an afternoon jog. As the sun went down, I cycled onto a pier and watched the sea, and felt the cool breeze against my skin. I breathed in deep, and felt good to be alive.

I also bumped into my pretty younger cousin who was cycling with her friends. One of my running friends runs a model agency and he asked me to ask her for an interview! Nice! We’re meeting her again later this week, and I hope this opportunity works out well for her as I know her family is not doing so well.

Later, after a warm dinner amongst 7 riends, I cycled back home (with some difficulty, cus I was stuffed!). Cycling along the beach at night is a singular experience, there’s hardly anyone else around, a cool sea breeeze is blowing, and the lights of the ships sparkle along the horizon.

All in all, a fantastic way to spend the day.

Now I throw the challenge back to you: What is at least one good thing that happened to you yesterday? If you’re reading this, leave a comment and write it down.

    Hi Alvin,

After reading your post, I ran through my past experience and recall that, yes it’s this one gratitude and experience that really brightens my day to look forward to many more great returns each day.
I would like to share one of my greatest gratitude and experience yesterday.
After a day of boring work and fighting to keep myself awake, I went to meet up with a friend who jst came back from China.
It’s been about a couple of months since I last met up with this friend(i call her my twin sister; someone who understands me in thoughts and level of thinking.) She’s been away from Singapore since last year erm… Oct or Nov?? and I only got to know that she’s away in Dec.
I didnt realised how i really missed her till december when I was really depressed and could not find anyone who I can speak to or empathise my experience or be there for me. I called and msged her then, but could not get to her.
Yesterday we got to meet up and we had our usual catching up talk and silly jokes. It make me feel that of all the bad experience I had, there’s been someone who really understands and know me even without being there, I can feel her presence and support that pulled me though my depressed state.
I’m grateful that there’s this one out of many friends that i’ve got who knows and can read and understand my thoughts and intention. A close friend who believes and thinks somewhat similar. I’m grateful that though there can be many things that is of difference(culture, background, race, etc..) we can meet and share a common believe and mind.

Well Alvin I also like to cheat a bit. Today is really a my lucky and wonderful day. Firstly, I got my Harry Potter & Half Blood Prince from the regional library. Didn’t expect there to be any copy for such a popular book. And it’s just like 2 days after I finish reading the 5th book in the series.

And the more amazing thing is I got to listen to Corrinne May live at NUS. Didn’t know she would be there beforehand, but happen to walk past the place. Woah, I have miss 2 of her concerts and was thinking when would I have the chance to hear her live. Haha, jus count my blessings for it to have happen.
