Happy Lunar New Year

General

I’d just like to take this chance and wish everyone of our Chinese readers (including me!) a happy lunar new year!

The lunar new year is a new year we celebrate in addition to the present Gregorian new year. There’s lots of pomp and ceremony, we have to do a massive spring cleaning beforehand and lots of rules abide on the day itself to guarantee good luck; like how you can’t say negative things, can’t sweep the floor, can’t throw things away, wash your hair or shave!

Not to mention the best part of all, the hong baos, or red packets of money the young and unmarried (me!) get.

As we’re ushering this new beginning, I’d like to wish all of you, Chinese and non, good fortune, good luck, and massive wealth :) Gong xi fa cai!
